Neural Induced Enhancement of Audio Signals for Promoting Listening Pleasure
The product is designed based on a method with which listeners can exert control (consciously or sub-consciously) over various audio enhancement effects through their mental states. Briefly, brain waves at different frequency bands are detected from a listener, and the signal in each frequency band is employed to adjust one or more audio enhancement effect(s). A listener can choose to perform this process subconsciously, in which case the audio enhancement merely follows the mental state or emotion. On the other hand, the listener can also modify one’s brain waves intentionally by invoking certain mental activities (such as deliberately increasing, or decreasing the attention).
Uniqueness and Competitive Advantages
Existing brain wave (neural) technology is mainly applied in toys, simple control, music composition, and treatment (such as hypnotism). In applications like hypnotism or neural feedback, a foreign audio signal that is intended to strengthen or induce certain aspect(s) of the brain activity is added to the music. For applications such as music composition, a piece of music is formed by integrating short time segments of audio signals, each selected according to certain aspect(s) of the brain wave. It has never been realized or taught in existing prior arts for the purpose of enhancing and promoting, through special processing of the audio signals, the listening experience. Referring to the prior arts on audio enhancement, they are largely based on combining the left and right channels according to certain pre-defined settings that had not taken into account of the expectation of the listener. If one is not satisfied with the effect, one has to modify the setting manually with certain controlling devices. Exercising such modification in the course of listening inevitably causes distraction, and lowering of the listening pleasure. The product has realized, for the first time, utilizing different frequency bands of the brain waves for adjusting different components of the audio enhancement process. This results in enhancing audio signals autonomously according to the mental state of the listener.
